Education & training
approach to counseling
Phillip’s counseling perspective is grounded in trauma-informed, integrative care. He draws from attachment theory, systems theory, cognitive-behavioral approaches, ego states and parts work, and cutting-edge neuroscience. He is passionate about using brain-body modalities to bring healing not only to the mind, but to the nervous system and somatic memory—because the body often holds what the mind has tried to forget.
Through psychoeducation, practical tools, and supportive exploration, Phillip helps clients regulate emotions, improve relationships, and reconnect with their inherent worth. He understands the deep shame many carry—especially those who’ve received harmful messages about their identity, emotions, or needs—and he meets each client with compassion, curiosity, and deep respect.
Believing that no two people are the same, Phillip offers individualized, collaborative care, walking alongside clients to define their goals, values, and paths toward healing and achieving their goals.
Phillip began his career in 2001 working with youth in various roles (Individual Skill Provider, Case Manger, Program Director, and Mental Health Clinician) for Community Behavioral Health Clinics and an acute psychiatric facility.
In 2018, he shifted his focus to adult mental health, providing counseling in both residential and outpatient substance use treatment programs. By 2022, he had launched his own full-time private practice—Transformation Counseling, LLC—offering compassionate, trauma-informed care on the Kenai Peninsula.
